New year, new possibilities
Brace yourself for a deep dive into the wonderful technical world of SQL Server vNext and SQL Server 2016 SP1. Instead of using the normal Windows platform public preview, during this webinar replay we’ll be using the public preview of the SQL on Linux distribution. And because we’ve just entered 2017, it’s time to take it up a notch and do this with Docker.

With SQL Server running on Linux, we’ll go through some new syntax introduced in SQL server vNext and SQL server 2016 SPI which allow you to delete tables with a minimal of coding. We’ll also be demonstrating you how to clone databases directly in order to trace performance issues more efficiently. Finally, get ready for the new dynamic management views and database scoped configurations which enable you to have an even closer glimpse at the internal process of SQL Server.

Standard vs Enterprise edition
Do you only have access to the SQL Server 2016 Standard Edition? The latest update is also bringing out some features which previously were only accessible in the Enterprise Edition. Database compression, partitioning, in-memory OLTP are just some of the features which are now available, with some limitations, though.
